Dear Maurice,

I am going through a very rough patch in my life right now and I need your help to get things back to what they were.

I have been evicted from my home and I don’t know what to do.

My long term boyfriend has thrown me out of our home. I came home and found that he had packed all my stuff. He then proceeded to evict me as he threatened to burn all my stuff if I don’t leave immediately.

What ignited his actions, did you have a disagreement that escalated to this point?

He accused me of cheating on him in our home.

Does he have any basis to accuse you, does he have proof to your infidelity?

She replies,

He was told that while he was away I had been dating several men and that it all took place in our home.

Who told him, and is the source reliable? In short, are you guilty of the accusation?

She replies,

I was afraid you would ask that question. Maurice I did not cheat on him emotionally. It was all physical for me. You see, my boyfriend who had proposed to me in August last year lives in Geneva where he works and has been working for the last 5 years.

And by the way, I am never divorcing you, try explaining that to your parents you bitch”.

You are married? I thought he had only proposed to you?

She replies,

We secretly got married at the AG’s office so that it would speed up my travel to join him in Geneva. My parents are not aware but his parents were in the loop and had given their blessings. The official wedding was scheduled for next year in May. How can you help me!

Maurice replies,

So allow me to recap. While your boyfriend was away you were seeing several men in his house where you were residing as his girlfriend and secret wife. Once he had enough evidence he decided to throw you out of his house. You do not deny the accusation and you want me to repair the damage, is the correct?

She replies,

Yes Maurice. I made a huge mistake and I need him back. I forgot to mention that he took back his car which I was using so now I am forced to use public transport and he has cut off my allowance. My best friend also threw out after I confronted her about selling me out.

Maurice asks,

So where are you staying now?

She replies,

I am staying at another friend’s place. She has been supportive but I can sense her husband wants me out.

Maurice replies,

Let me guess! This friend who has taken you in lives in the same complex.

She replies,

Yes.

Maurice replies,

Excuse my sarcasm but your complex sounds like a soap opera!

She replies,

I don’t know why the husband dislikes me, his wife is not the Saint she pretends to be. The number of times I have covered for her while she was out with other guys.

Maurice replies,

Let’s stick to your dilemma, clearly birds of a feather flock together in your complex. To be perfectly honest, I do not perform miracles and rarely has your predicament ended with a reunion. The level of betrayal is not easy to forgive or forget and from experience with men in your boyfriend’s state of mind, it will take him a long while to forgive you. His intent is in his words where he states he will not give you a divorce. That tells me he is planning to punish you and even though I speculate, the punishment will be dragged on and he will probably attempt to make your life hell especially your social life. His aim is to make you hurt just like he has. Your man right now is like a wounded buffalo, he is in no moods to reconcile or forgive.

I do not know if you read my last blog post ‘Diaspora Love’ which profiles a calculative man who lured and deceived a woman into falling in love with him only to end up showcasing his true colours of non-committal. In this case your man despite any short falls he may have was planning a future for the two of you and after all his efforts to show his commitment you went ahead and did things behind his back yet you were living under the comforts he had provided.

It begs the question ‘WHAT DO HUMANS REALLY WANT’. Is there ever a winner in relation to all those men and women who put their all in a relationship, hoping to make it work and attain a Disney ‘happy ever after’ story ending.

Individuals have their choice to do as they please but I have always advocated for relationship settings that have what people would call minimal risk. The variables of negative influence, lust, temptation in a long distance are vast and the probabilities of ‘loyalty’ are limited.

Once upon a time, I used to believe that there was such a thing as a ‘selfless good deed’ but over time and experiences where people give out positive energy and devotion expecting the same are in many occasions disappointed by their partners who give far less in return. The selfless good deed goes out the window when one expects the same back, expects affirmation and in truth as humans we all seek to be acknowledged if we exclusively commit to one person and assert all our energy to making them happy.

My dear I advice you stay away and give him space to digest and come to terms with his findings. He is currently fueled by emotions of aggression and in time he will flip into practical thinking mode which is the natural wiring of most sane men. Until then keep a low profile in his life and social circles.

Diaspora Love

Hey Maurice. I am desperate for your expert advice. Please save me. I have known my so called boyfriend for about 8 years now. Though we started dating early this year. Our relationship is long distance, he works in the Middle East. He is an amazing man and lover and I fell for himdiasporalove
