I am delighted to see you publish stories regarding marriage. Marriage is a gift from God but many people have abused it. I am living with my sister who has a 4 month old baby and I am not happy with their marriage. My sister is 26 and her husband is 33. I am 22.

Why are you not happy?
She replies,
The husband keeps on verbally abusing her in front of me and the house girl. He calls her ‘silly’ and ‘stupid girl’ and sometimes tries to slap her. I recently noticed that there is something brewing between my sister’s husband and the house girl. I confronted him but he threatened me, he said he can get me arrested for accusing him without any evidence. He also said I should mind my own business otherwise he will throw me out or tell my sister that I am the one flirting with him. I have tried to tell my sister about my suspicions but she’s so blinded by her love and comfort. I even tried to tell her to chase the girl but the husband said that she should not chase the house girl because he is the provider in their home. I want to leave this place but I don’t know what will happen to my sister so I decided to stay but I am not happy in this homestead. This man is taking advantage of my sister because she is down to earth and fears him a lot. I am really depressed since am not financially stable to support my sister. She needs to leave this man but she won’t listen to me.

I believe it is your natural instinct to want to protect your sister from her alleged bad husband. However I must point out that you are under their roof and from what you have implied you are not financially able to give your sister a better live so to speak. From what you have narrated he sounds guilty however, whether the husband mistreats her or not it is not your place to confront him. Once you alerted your sister about your suspicions it was then upon her to evaluate your findings and decide on her own path. Many relatives that attempt to help find their efforts are usually in vain. Emotions have a way of distorting or clouding simple logic and rationality in humans so the best you can do is table your concern and let your sister make her own choice. I wouldn’t be surprise that your sister knows of her husband’s short comings but chooses to ignore them and live one day at a time despite her alleged mistreatment.

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays Package 1 which is usually 2K per person will be 1K per person. Minimum people required are 10. Venue availed by client. Session will run for 2 hours. If required to travel out of Nairobi, travel costs and accommodation must be catered for.
